The fourth annual Great Brookland Yard Sale is right around the corner, this Saturday May 7th from 10am-2pm.
The number of yard sales this year has surpassed previous years with over 80 individual yard sales. Its a new record.
Be sure to come join this neighborhood extravaganza Saturday come by to meet and reacquaint yourself with your friends and neighbors.
Here is the low down on the Great Brookland Yard Sale.
What is the GBYS?: The Great Brookland Yard Sale is a set date for Brookland residents to host concurrent yard sales for their friends and neighbors . This year, the GBYS is organized by the Brookland Neighborhood Civic Association (BNCA).
When is it?: Saturday May 7th from 10:00 AM until 2:00PM (individual yard sale times can vary)
Rain Date: Sunday May 8th
Where is it?: All over Brookland, in individual seller’s yards! Also, there will be almost 40 sales tables set up in front of St. Anthony’s School on 12th St. NE between Lawrence and Monroe. Please see the map below for individual addresses and information. St. Anthony’s is now sold out of tables.
Wondering what else will be there?:
The Greater Brookland Garden Club will holding its yearly plant sale at the Long and Foster Parking lot at 12th and Newton Streets.
The GBGC will be selling garden plants such as perennials, some shrubs and small trees, mostly from Brookland gardens. They will also have herbs, vegetables, flowering annuals, and some house plants for sale.
Art Enables a working studio for artists with developmental disabilities is will be open with buyer-friendly prices – Artists receive 60% of the revenue from sales of their work (2204 Rhode Island Ave NE).
Wondering what you might eat while shopping till you drop?:
One of the tables at St. Anthony’s School will be serving homemade St. Louis Style BBQ! Items will include ribs, grilled BBQ chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, mac and cheese, homemade coleslaw, corn muffins and lots more! Check out the entry on the map for more info. Time: 9 a.m. until dusk. (corner of 12th and Monroe/Lawrence)

Whats the best way to view the GYBS yard sales?:
Capital Bike Share is great way to view the 80+ yard sales. Either hop off the Brookland-CUA Metro Station and use one of the three Brookland Capital Bikeshare Stations or come directly to Brookland via the Metropolitan Branch Trail.
Of course walking is always a great option too.
