Pizza Boli’s on 12th Street Offers Up Jumbo Slices
Ali Nadeem has owned Pizza Boli’s on 12th St. NE for almost 16 years, but adding jumbo slices of pizza to his menu has been one of his best moves yet, he said yesterday. The giant grease-dripping new offering sells for $6, and as far as Nadeem knows, his shop is the only D.C. location selling the gargantuan slabs outside of the Adam’s Morgan area.
“It’s unique, it’s different,” said Nadeem. “Not many places have it.”
Jumbo slices have proven popular with Catholic University students and the Brookland neighborhood since Boli’s started offering them up about a month ago, said Nadeem. The longtime owner said his shop is now open 24 hours and has been remodeled – adding seats and a counter for hungry patrons to pop a squat as they devour their over-sized slices with a sense of accomplishment.
Unlike in Adam’s Morgan, jumbo slice fans in Brookland wouldn’t have trouble finding a place to park, and if they don’t feel like leaving the house, can even get a slice delivered.
Nadeem and his 14 workers, many of them relatives from Pakistan, said that the jumbo slices are currently the most popular item, followed by Boston style pizza and buffalo wings. They recently added a breakfast menu, which Nadeem said was also doing well.
