The Greatest Hip Hop Cover Story Ever Told is a two day event at Dance Place celebrating over 30 years of hip hop from 1979 to 2009. The shows are Saturday Nov 21, 2009 at 8:00PM and Sunday Nov 22, 2009 at 4:00PM.

Fort Reno Summer Concert Series 2009 Schedule

Fort Reno Summer Concert series has announced their 2009 schedule on their fancy new website designed and developed by the talented (and awesome) folks at Threespot.

As with previous years Fort Reno will be hosting great bands multiple times a week during the summer. If you have been in the past its always a good time to see some free music. The events start at 7:15pm and end at 9:30pm, they are kid and pet (i.e. dog) friendly and last most of the summer from the middle of June to the middle of August.

Fort Reno Park is a little ways away from Brookland but is metro accessible via a straight shot down the Red Line to the Tenleytown-AU stop, once off the stop walk two blocks north to the park.

The full Fort Reno 2009 schedule is located here. The Fort Reno Summer Concert Series is completely volunteer based and rely on donations, if you enjoy the series please donate so they can keep things running,

Also glass bottles, drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited.

Artomatic 2009

Artomatic, Washington DC’s yearly(ish) local artist extravaganza started up its month long residency at Navy Yard in SE DC. This is Artomatic’s 10th anniversary to see all different types of DC based artists. There is a little for everyone with everything from photography to installation to video art.

Artomatic also has a large for number of events including Frank Warren of Post Secret on opening night and the Sonic Circuits Showcase on Saturday May 30th.

Artomatic Peeps

Once again this Artomatic is hosting the finalists in the Washington Post Sunday Source Peeps III Diorama Contest A large number of great dioramas are on display this including peep versions of Pee Wee’s Playhouse, Guantanamo Bay, and DC Roller Girls. This is one Artomatic exhibit filled with sweet candy goodness and is not to be missed.
